Pearl Harbor Child
Who else is a civilian eyewitness to the Pearl Harbor attack?
(Dorinda lived inside the harbor on the Pearl City Peninsula
only a few hundred yards from the battleship USS Utah)
Hello and aloha, my name is Dorinda . . .
Historians call me “a primary source as a Pearl Harbor eyewitness,” because on December 7, 1941, I was six years old, living on the Pearl City Peninsula when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. With my family, I watched the attack from my front yard, only a few hundred yards from the battleship USS Utah, one of the first American ships sunk by Japanese torpedoes. My book cover below shows me at age 6 in Pearl Harbor with my dog, “Hula Girl”. . . and this is my story. Please come in . . . I’ve got a lot to show you!
